		<Abstract>Everyone knows that life depends on water. “We made from water every living thing.» Life, however, depends on movement. A fixed object cannot be recognized as vital. Life has been considered to be the same as the soul. Organisms are those that have life and movement. The concept of life and motion for plants and animals is relatively explicable. Plant and animal life are accidental properties. Everything they have had from the beginning is what develops. The movement of plants and animals, which is dependent on water, is accidental and it does not make a significant difference in their order of existence. Movement leads to human growth. Growth has a deeper meaning than development. Development can be considered as the transformation of inner talent that becomes actual. Growth, however, is a development that occurs outside of matter›s capacities. Growth is the production of something of higher quality than what is already there. Bees have a capacity called instinct. Activating the inner power of the bee is a kind of development. It is a materialistic potential that will develop. The bee does not find any higher status than was foreseen for him by his material motion. This motion is an accident, actualizing latent material qualities and talents.&lt;br /&gt;Growth is unique to humans. Man also has his own capacities. He has also the potential that can be developed through accidental motions and the actualization of his inner materialistic capacities. The actuality of the potential also requires substantial motion through which he uses creativity in the spiritual realm. Man›s growth is a part of his life that is dependent on water. Evidence shows that human materialistic development and animal life depend on water. The point is that human life does not end with the actualization of potential materialism. After the realization of inner talents, human tends to experience a spiritual life, which is called growth.&lt;br /&gt;O brother, you are what you have on your mind&lt;br /&gt;The rest is your bones and flesh «Rumi»&lt;br /&gt;Water is also a basic element for growth. It is difficult to imagine the contribution of the materialistic element to developing the spiritual aspect. But it is easy to understand this relationship when an association is made between the living soul and body. Man›s growth depends on his individual and social life. On an individual scale, companionship with water leads to a sense of freshness and purity. For the Iranians, who associate Anahita, their great myth of purity and fertility with water, the meanings of perfection and sanctity are perceived through the water. Such perceptions contribute to the growth of the human soul. The representation of water in the language, art, and culture of Iran also confirms its important role in the realization of transcendental concepts. «Face» in Persian « Aberu»  refers to the spiritual value of man. Water also stands for value in Rumi›s poetry:&lt;br /&gt;The low level of water barely causes the feeling of thirst&lt;br /&gt;May water gush from above and below&lt;br /&gt;Similarly, in his poetry Sohrab Sepehri says: Let›s not mud the water&lt;br /&gt;All these examples show the mindset of Iranians about the importance of water and highlight its necessity for perfection and growth. Human growth on a collective scale has a more compelling story. Individual human growth is possible within the family at the age of puberty. After that, society turns into a suitable place for human growth. Society is also made up of human beings on whom its perfection depends. As a result, a reciprocal movement occurs in which human growth depends on society and the perfection of society depends on the growth of its individuals. Therefore, human society must create situations through which both the individual and society are consolidated. Naturally, this creativity is focused on the culture and thoughts of each nation. In Iran and the Islamic world, water plays a key role in creating life-giving spaces. A life evokes individual sensory reflection and social solidarity. At the same time, this actor is a myth whose inherent holiness has been confirmed by both Iranian and Islamic cultures. Strangely, Iranian cities are formed based on interaction with water. In the plateau of Iran, where water resources have been scarce for at least the last millennium, the display of water conflicts with its protection. Everything precious is set to be out of reach. However, due to its deep meaning and its vital value for urban and rural life, water not only has not been hidden but also crawled into the lives of people to gather them together while displaying its beauty. As stated in the book «Three Elements of the Persian Landscape», the formation of many cities and villages in Iran has been based on the water source, which is symbolically adorned in the center of their territory. In the picture on the cover of this landscape, a paradise scene can be seen in the desert city of Semnan, which is a hub for people to visit. The water flows into the alleys and then defines the boundaries of the Mahalleh. Here, the water running out of the storage pool is delayed at every turn to be an excuse for the gathering of citizens and the social realization that guarantees human growth. Water is the basis for building a neighborhood and serves as a realm of social realization and human growth. Naming this alley «Angar» by the authorities in Semnan Municipality is interesting, though it is not clear to us whether it is an old or new name. The alley seems to be a place for childish dreams and imaginations that shape the future of human beings.</Abstract>

		<Abstract>Iranian gardening can be considered an artistic expression. Gardening is an art that has played a significant rolein Iranian culture and history. This art was created before the arrival of Islam in Iran. Since the arrival of Islam, it has not only continued to grow and outshine all other arts since then, but it has also attained maturity. Also, painting is an art that has been popular in Iran for a long time and has always servedas a narrator of Iranianculture.Natural elements have a special significance in Iranian culture, thus their depiction in miniatures appears quite natural. Plants appear in every Iranian painting, even if they do not take center stage.Iranian gardening has been used in various forms of art in this country. This study was an attempt to investigate the prevalence of Iranian gardening in Iranian miniatures andexamine the artist’s interpretation of the Persian garden. For this purpose, the miniatures of Baysonghori’s  Shahnameh were chosen as samples of the study. The reason behind this selection was influenced by the close relationship between the miniatures and Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, the depiction in a specific period, the uniformity in their drawing method, and the availability of this collection Analyzing and scrutinizing the miniatures in this collection showed interesting results of Iranian miniatures, which arethe manifestation of an Iranian painter or an Iranian gardener’s impression of the garden. The artist’s attention to detail and the general atmosphere of the garden are among the most important part of this manifestation. In fact, the Persian garden may be thought of as a collection of natural components, whereas a miniature is a collection of garden elements.</Abstract>

		<Abstract>Problem statement: Space syntax is a theory and method that recognizes the space configuration and enables its analysis. Space syntax expresses the intrinsic features of space tangibly and quantitatively by studying space quantitatively. It makes this method more practical and increasingly important. Also, no model can calculate the landscape’s subjective and objective aspects by computational and measurement methods in the landscape area. Given that the space syntax theory is a quantitative method that not only addresses the physique but also considers the social issues, such as activities, it seems that it has the capabilities and capacities that can help us evaluate the landscape. This research seeks to achieving the specific components of the landscape to fill in the gaps and weaknesses of conventional measurement methods and quantitative study of the landscape’s objective and subjective aspects and wants to answer the question that, How can the syntax method of space be used for landscape analysis?&lt;br /&gt;The current study addresses the content analysis to recognize the space syntax and its fundamental theories and concepts using a mixed method of descriptive-analytical and deductive explanation. These concepts are then analyzed along with the landscape concepts to achieve the space syntax efficiency in the landscape. The landscape is a subjective-objective phenomenon. The landscape features depend on the objective (physical features of space) and subjective features (meaning). The subjective factor is classified into two groups of visual and drama groups, which have different measurement and evaluation methods and capabilities. The visual factors are perceived reflectively and sensually, and drama factors depend on the rational process and establishing a relationship between its different parts. Space syntax can be used to analyze some of the landscape factors and has a deficiency in analyzing others. The objective factors of the landscape can be studied using space syntax due to their syntax feature. However, the more semantic the factors, the more inefficient is the method of space syntax for recognizing and analyzing space.</Abstract>

		<Abstract>Addressing the problems of the inefficient existing buildings is of great importance in Tehran, where only a few buildings in the city are newly-built constructions. The existing building stock accounts for large energy consumption, and the problems of existing buildings are mostly related to the poor performance of the building envelope. The building façade, as the most significant part of the building envelope, considerably contributes to large thermal transmittance in existing buildings. As a result, studying the building envelope and especially the building façade can lead to considerable energy demand reduction in the building sector. Therefore, using façade retrofit measures can potentially reduce cooling and heating demand in existing buildings. This research tries to prioritize the façade retrofit measures based on their efficiency in reducing energy demand by adding thermal insulation, replacing windows, and adding shading to the south façade of the existing office buildings in Tehran. In other words, this research investigates the efficiency of the façade retrofit measures. It is hypothesized that using shading has more impact on reducing energy demand in south facades. This study is quantitative research drawing upon a parametrically performed simulation run by Energy Plus and Open studio in Rhino software with the help of Grasshopper plugin. The objectives were analyzed using Honeybee and Ladybug plugins. Also, a comparative study method was used to compare the energy consumption levels in retrofit scenarios and a reference model. The results show that adding shading is the most effective measure in facades with high heat transfer coefficients. In these facades, adding thermal insulation takes precedence over window replacement. Shading is still the most effective measure in facades with lower heat transfer coefficients; however, the window replacement should be prioritized to thermal insulation in retrofitting the existing façade with a higher heat transfer coefficient. </Abstract>
			<OtherAbstract Language="FA">Addressing the problems of the inefficient existing buildings is of great importance in Tehran, where only a few buildings in the city are newly-built constructions. The existing building stock accounts for large energy consumption, and the problems of existing buildings are mostly related to the poor performance of the building envelope. The building façade, as the most significant part of the building envelope, considerably contributes to large thermal transmittance in existing buildings. As a result, studying the building envelope and especially the building façade can lead to considerable energy demand reduction in the building sector. Therefore, using façade retrofit measures can potentially reduce cooling and heating demand in existing buildings. This research tries to prioritize the façade retrofit measures based on their efficiency in reducing energy demand by adding thermal insulation, replacing windows, and adding shading to the south façade of the existing office buildings in Tehran. In other words, this research investigates the efficiency of the façade retrofit measures. It is hypothesized that using shading has more impact on reducing energy demand in south facades. This study is quantitative research drawing upon a parametrically performed simulation run by Energy Plus and Open studio in Rhino software with the help of Grasshopper plugin. The objectives were analyzed using Honeybee and Ladybug plugins. Also, a comparative study method was used to compare the energy consumption levels in retrofit scenarios and a reference model. The results show that adding shading is the most effective measure in facades with high heat transfer coefficients. In these facades, adding thermal insulation takes precedence over window replacement. Shading is still the most effective measure in facades with lower heat transfer coefficients; however, the window replacement should be prioritized to thermal insulation in retrofitting the existing façade with a higher heat transfer coefficient. </OtherAbstract>

		<Abstract>Today’s world has been forced to perform actions based on the principles of sustainable development to compensate for the damage caused by industrialization and the mechanization of nature. However, In Iran, a country with an ancient civilization, ideas based on thoughtful interaction with nature had existed before the emergence of modernism. One of the effects of this interaction is the construction of buildings suitable for local climates without using fossil fuels for cooling and heating. This would result in environmental protection. Coping with the climate in the hot and dry desert regions of Iran has long been one of the most important concerns of Iranian architects. Iranian houses are one of the most durable Iranian buildings. Describing the architecture of the house has a wonderful meaning for everyone and they are aware of its important role in life. Since a significant amount of time in a human’s life is spent at home, thus energy consumption in this area is very thought-provoking. This survey aims to investigate the old houses of Kashan city from a climatic perspective and energy consumption. The study examines each space and compares the min terms of passive energy factors to identify climate-friendly designs and to save energy consumption in Kashan homes. In this survey, Kashan city was selected as a sample of a location with a hot and dry climate. The physical features of houses in this city were examined to understand how they deal with climatic conditions. The data associated with the characteristics of twenty historical houses were collected through field surveys and library and documentary studies. The descriptive and analytical method was examined after creating a questionnaire to achieve passive energy solution factors in selected samples. This article first describes and introduces the different features of each house in Kashan, such as courtyard, porch, types of chambers, basement, etc. Then an adaptation between these places and passive energy is done. In the next step, each of the components of passive energy is defined so that it can be used in contemporary architecture to optimize energy consumption. Like traditional architecture in this climate, houses can be designed by the climate with the current climate technology.</Abstract>

		<Abstract>According to available evidence, ancient Iranian cities have been developed based on the duality of man and nature and their interplay. This has resulted in an artificial environment, such as an urban landscape. With the development of urbanism based on scientific, industrial, and technical specializations driven by contemporary science, there has been a great focus on urban structure. Such emphasis on structure-driven development has created a distance between human and nature in the environment. It has resulted in disciplines such as landscape based on the “Inseparability of object-subject,” ecology in urban development based on the “natural ecosystem continuity in the city.” The current study aims to propose strategies for cultural, human, and environmental concerns in urban growth. This study is developmental-applied research, which attempts to develop interdisciplinary strategies in a challenging interaction between the concept of the urban landscape and urban ecology in urban development planning programs that apply to multiple scales. The results indicate that there is an interactive relationship between the subjective and objective layers of the urban landscape and urban ecology on three scales: micro, intermediary, and macro. The components of this interaction include the set of concrete experiences of residents in the face of the urban structure; the creation of perceptual-memory images based on natural and artificial urban signs; and the creation of perceptual realms of the urban environment. If explicable strategies for their formation are incorporated into the urban development program, there would be two layers of the urban landscape and urban ecology in the structure of contemporary cities. This will make human/nature alignment possible. In other words, the urban environment will form a part of the citizens’ mental view of the city and be institutionalized in the public mind as an element of the urban landscape.</Abstract>

		<Abstract>The components of a traditional Iranian city include harmonious and cohesive structures arising from different concepts. The network of passages is one of the most significant communicative elements in these cities, which in addition to connecting different parts of the context, have contributed to the presence and various activities of the residents of the neighborhood and have had an important place in the public domain of the city. The exposure of the space organization and current life in these passages to the content and physical transformation of cities is a significant issue. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to scrutinize the position of historical passages in the structural system of public spaces of the city and to extract the factors affecting the position. To this end, this study examined to see how this element works in the public and collective domains of today’s cities. This research employed a qualitative approach and a descriptive and analytical method, and it examined the concept and characteristics of historical passages and the components of public space related to them through bibliographic and document studies. These components included access and movement, hierarchy, stillness, contrast and divergence, mobility and diversity, land-use intermixture, spatial flexibility, and continuity. This study used spatial physical analysis to examine the interaction of factors in the study area of Dar-Khoungah passage. The analysis was based on visual evidence and field observations. Due to the formation of the public space of Dar-Khoungah passage based on the organization system of neighborhood centers and the existence of evident characteristics such as historical buildings, spatial openings, old land-uses, and their arrangements, this study analyzed this passage from different perspectives such as urban space organization, part-whole relationship, joint communications, and component analysis and explained its effective qualities on the public space of the city.  Analysis of the data shows that these qualities include physical connection and semantic relation of the public space, identification of the public space, balancing the public space, and the function of physical elements of the passage in explaining the public space, which can be a basis for future development of the passage, promotion of activities, social interactions and solving its physical issues and problems.</Abstract>
